Typhoon

It's a typhoon, pouring water down in heavy sheets
Drenching thirsty plants
They soak it up
Leaves swollen and satisfied
Water beading on their tips

It's a typhoon, water puddling in the soil
Filling the earth with water
No room for air
Slowly the leaves suffocate
Yellow creeping towards the stems

It's a typhoon, streams of water flowing downhill
Seeking the ocean
Leaves fall and plants bend
Their weight too heavy
They brown and wither

It's a typhoon, washing away the green
Leaving the garden bare
Sprawled on the ground
Leaves blossoms stems splayed
Under the heavy sky

It's a typhoon, rotting the roots
Are there any left?
Pale and strong
Resting now
Waiting to send up hopeful shoots?
